Warm up 2- Orc

Well here is another warm up. I have always tried to get multiple colours on a face and here is an example. Much like the previous post, this is a colour experimentation. I strayed away from light greens and went with a more muddy green. I had the initial drawing on my main layer, but as I started to "figure out" the colours I found it wasn't necessary to have it any more. As well as my previous drawing this one can be refined. As I learn more about digital painting I hope to revisit the orc and possibly add some texture to it.

Warm up - Nelson Mandela

So it has been quite some time. Two years to be exact! I have been focusing a lot on my graphic design work ( as it is my career ) but drawing has always been my love.

I had some free time today and decided to do some drawing. I know my weakest point in drawing has always been colour. So I spent an hour referencing colour and mixing from a photo of Nelson Mandela. I focused on the tones and although not perfect, turned out much better than expected. Going forward I aim to make colour something I can be comfortable with. Here's to many more posts to come....hopefully!

A Mean Guy

Found an older drawing I did and decided to give it the black and white treatment.

From Sketch to Colour

Here is the linear sketch of a demon soldier I drew. The second is a black and white version of the creature. My advice is to fill in the darks first. The highlights come in easier.

Skin tones 2

In the right light, skin can change many times. I love to look at faces in different lighting as it brings interesting colours to the face,

Golurk

This is a character I created for a story I made years ago. Pretty easy design. Dragon..... with a gun on his back.

Face

More experimenting with skin tones. Trying to see different values in darker skin.

Castle

A castle/church that turned out to be more an exploration of ridges and cliffs.

Diablo 3 Barbarian

This started out as a man, then a bearded man. Then it started to showcase characteristics of a barbarian from diablo 3. So here is a portrait of the diablo 3 barbarian.

Woman

A sketch of a comic style woman. Trying to play with the lights and darks to create some sort of harmony.

Vasjh

A demon for a story I created. I wanted to focus on his face to showcase detail and again play with the darks and lights

Knight Concept

A quick concept of a knight. I avoided the finer detail as I wanted to explore the metal more.
